9 WAYS TO LOVE YOUR BODY

Body image issues … it's something that so many women have… if not all women at times,  but it's almost like a taboo topic to ever talk about. Everybody goes through it but nobody actually shares you they really feel about themselves. I used to be in a very bad mental mindset about my body. I have been at both ends of the spectrum at 55kgs and at 72 kgs. I can tell you right now that unexpectedly I actually was just as critical about myself regardless of what the weight was. This was because I wasn't happy with who I was from the inside, so no matter what I did to change my external appearance I simply just did not appreciate any aspect of it.

In my last blog Battling Adrenal Fatigue part 1, I spoke about what adrenal fatigue was and the signs and symptoms associated with it in order to give you an idea of what to recognize and pay attention to. I know that left many of you think “well what now?” so even though I highly recommend seeking out a medical practitioner, there are some things you can take into your own hands to help reduce the stress on your body to either prevent adrenal fatigue from occurring, or to recover a little quicker if you are already battling with the disorder.

I know we are all skeptics at heart, and believe me when I say I am definitely the worst for it. I really was not convinced that simple lifestyle changes could help make a big difference but after becoming more open minded to the matter, I found that by adopting the following lifestyle changes as much as possible, have, over time made me feel a lot better. Now I realize that lifestyle is probably the most important factor in your road to recovery.

Overeating is something that is easily overlooked and in many cases socially accepted, particularly in the fitness industry. Notions such as cheat meal days are often celebrated and bragged about, yet what those individuals do not realise is that they are in a vicious restriction and binge eating cycle.

TO SCALE OR NOT TO SCALE

Scales

That love-hate relationship we all have or had at some point with our set of bathroom scales. Sometimes we hop on them, and we are excited by the number that we see, and sometimes we step on them and want to throw them out of the window straight after. At some point in time, we have all let ourselves become dictated by a number, but I am here to let you know that it's time to tell the scales to move over and feel fabulous regardless of what they say.

The ruling

For so long I let myself become dictated by a number. I would hop on the scales most days and if the number on there was not what I had hoped for then this would change my entire mood for the whole remainder of the day. I know that so many of you can relate to this feeling because we all do it or have done it at some point. When the number is not what we want, we start to torture ourselves. I used to eat even less for the day or spend extra hours in the gym. I would start questioning what I had done wrong when I thought I was doing absolutely everything possible to control my weight. I would weight myself daily, and the number would change my whole mood for the day, and I would worry about it so much if it was not budging. It was that feeling of all my hard work was not paying off, and some of you at this point would even just throw in the towel and give up. I have at times in the past where when the number was not moving, I would be like 'what the hell?' and just binge on food because, well, what's the point? This is all too common amongst many women these days, so we all need to take steps to get out of this vicious cycle.
